Kelly Johnson enters his second season as the Bobcats' pitching coach. Having held the same position at Sabino High School, Johnson came to Cienega in 2007 and had an instant impact on all pitchers.

Having been born and raised in Tucson, Johnson was a baseball and soccer standout at Sabino High School, and was part of the 1997 State Championship team coached by Todd Welch. Johnson then went on to play at Yavapai Community College before being drafted by St. Louis in 2000.

After Tommy John surgery brought his career to a standstill in 2005, Johnson spent portions of the 2006 and 2007 seasons in the Independent Leagues before devoting himself full time to his education.

He is now a teacher in the Sahuarita Elementary District, and is married to Dana Johnson, who also had an outstanding athletic career.
